SM-80 is an add-on wireless PIR motion sensor for SecurityMan Air-Alarm system. Its wireless transmitting distance is up to 450ft (in open area). It includes a 9V alkaline battery which could last up to 2 years. Motion detection range is 100° 10x10m.
Buyer Evaluations
The PIR sensor operates quite nicely. It scans each and every five seconds reacts pretty quickly. I ordered added sensors to compliment the Air Alarm kit I ordered. The adjustability of the mounting makes it hassle-free to aim once a mounting location is chosen.
Of the 3 sensors, there is one that appears to have a single undesirable trait. I am unsure if it is exceptional to that sensor or if it is because it is in a high visitors location or bad luck with 9V batteries. The PIR scans each and every 5 seconds according the manual and when it detects motion, it glows red. The sensor in question has put to use 3 9V batteries considering the fact that it was mounted. The original battery did not last quite long and I assumed it was given that it was a no name battery included with the unit. The second lasted three months and it did not glow "white" when the battery is low according to the manual. The red LED simply would was not as brilliant as normal (it was a 9V that I had, but tested "fine" with the battery tester ahead of installed- so it could have been just poor luck with two batteries). It is on it is third battery in six months. That is the only issue that has come up since the installation and so far just with a single of the three PIR sensors. The Air Alarm and sensors are not even one year old however, but the PIR does work as stated.
When these operate, they are wonderful. I currently have 5 installed, and usually speaking, they function effectively. Yet, of the eight total that I have ordered, I have had problems with 3: 1 wouldn't turn on at all, one particular looked like it was turned on but wouldn't detect motion, and the third 1 detects motion inconsistently. I am returning the two that do not function at all (through Amazon) I will update the overview if there are any problems with the return.
