Buyer Critiques
This alarm is terrific if you happen to be in an apartment. For a house I would invest the income to have the complete home wired, but for apartments, it does the trick. Place one on each window/door and forget about the $100's in gates and bars. I refuse to be the prisioner in my own abode with gates and bars on the windows... I live in NYC. This alarm is loud and the batteries can be tested with out setting it off. If you have old wooden windows it may very well not line up correctly but you have a half inch deviance to play with before it activates, but most of the windows in NYC are power efficent aluminum double glass..so for $6.06 each and every they are a bargain. I very recommend it for apartment living.
GE tends to make fairly superior and LOUD Window Alarms. The cause for the low rating is that the item on the picture is not the item that is being shipped. Beware of this reality. The one on the image is a a lot even more secure model considering the fact that the "on/off" switch is inside of the battery compartment. This design tends to make it tough for an individual unfamiliar with the device to turn it "Off".
The item that was shipped is also a "GE" Window Alarm, nevertheless, a fully distinctive and much less secure model. When it has an "Alarm/Chime/off" switch, it is clearly labeled on the outside of the device. Based on your window, you could essentially see the "Off" label from the outside of the window. This tends to make it particularly very easy for any individual to disable the alarm before any individual is able to pinpoint the supply of the sound. You would want it to make noise lengthy enough to discover the noise and its location.
The product that arrived tends to make for a particularly excellent Chime. The "Chime" is new on this model. When switched to this mode, it tends to make a single "Dinnngg/Donnnngg" sound when activated - awesome for Dorm Rooms or to make confident you hear children opening a window or door. In spite of this, the external and labeled controls on the outside of the device make this a incredibly negative "alarm" that can be too-easily disabled.
