Item Description

From the Manufacturer
Leviton presents a lot of goods that will aid lower electrical costs and add convenience to daily living. By basically replacing typical switches with occupancy sensors reduces power consumption and extends bulb life. Leviton's Decora (R) Occupancy Sensor Switches automatically turn lights ON when you enter a area and OFF when you leave. In addition to the convenience of hands-no cost switching, motion sensors assure that lights are not left ON unnecessarily for hours at a time. It utilizes "passive infrared technologies" in order to detect human presence in a space, and respond to the infrared heat folks naturally emit to monitor a certain region. When this "heat" is sensed, the lights will keep ON in the room, and then turn the lights OFF, when the space is vacated or are unoccupied. Compatible with Decora screwless snap-on wallplates (sold separately). Decora PR180-1LW 500W, Single Pole, 3-Way, 180 Degrees, 400 sq. ft. Buyer Evaluations

This item has a considerably lower value than some of these switches since it fails to make it clear that it will NOT operate with newer compact fluorescent bulbs (you will have horrible quirks if you try it). This can be worked around by adding an incandescent to the circuit this switch controls (if various bulbs). If you only have one particular light on the circuit (like a closet) you will have to just use an incandescent. That getting stated...
I observed one reviewer mention if the power flashes off when it comes back on the lights will stay on and you will have to turn every switch on and off. I have not had this problem. When the power goes off and back on, the lights do come on but they go off at the interval you have them set at just as they would if motion had set them off.
I locate the sensor on this switch is substantially greater than other individuals I've had encounter with (definitely far better than the GE). So long as you know upfront about the previously mentioned "catches", you can take advantage and get a beneficial deal on a sensor switch.

I was suspicious of this item, at the cost, but I purchased two of them and they are both operating properly.
The handyman did not get the 3-way wired correct, so it is required to leave the toggle switch in the on position at the bottom of the stairs, but that is no challenge. Sometimes the sensor even picks up the person at the bottom of the stairs. If not, just flip it off and back on once or twice and that triggers the light. Then leave it in the on position. The sensor will turn it off automatically.
If it lasts, it will have been a incredibly great deal.
