I have read all the security critiques on Amazon from all the distinct security MFG's. Skylink, GE, Bulldog Safety etc. I was impressed that the evaluations on this item did not mention something about poor quality, poor range and so on. I first named the AAS safety men and women and was impressed that over the telephone they could answer all my questions. I would like to let you know that the main programmer/ auto dialer is the same on all their units from AAS100 to AAS600 systems. The only distinction is the quantity of door sensors, motion detectors, sirens etc and so on. They have so a large number of further add on's for their safety method it is unbelievable, such as remote wireless sirens, smoke detectors, gas detectors, water detectors and much more and a lot more. So I ordered a custom unit from them: 1 main programmer/dialer, 1 remote siren and 3 motion detectors and 2 remote key pods. I setup the method on my kitchen table in about 1/2 an hour. The siren is loud, due to the fact I purchased the separate wireless siren unit it can be placed anyplace you have an AC outlet. The motion detectors work gorgeous. Not also sensitive but work at long distances. I put one particular on the motion detectors in my den and it looks into my kitchen and will detect you if you walk at the end of the kitchen 40ft away.The principal programmer has built in battery backup. I have a 3000 sq ft home and I don't know where to put the 3rd detector, the other 2 detectors cover my whole 1st floor. I've only had it for a week but I am impressed. You have the capability to dial into this method and listen to what is happening, functions with my blackberry cellphone. You can set the exit and entrance times and lots of extra good programming tricks that you do not come across in other systems.This safety technique with my Avaak Vue wireless cameras are fantastic. When the alarm goes off I am in a position to appear in and see what is going on from anywhere. Will update in a few months.
UPDATE:
The program is wonderful. No problems. I use VOIP Vonage for my property telephone and it operates terrific on out going alerts from the AAS 100 safety method, but on incoming calls the Vonage answering service will answer and I cannot dial into the AAS 100. SO....I purchased the VOIP Grandstream Handystream 286 adapter from Amazon went to CallCentric and signed up for their VOIP phone . Its wonderful for a alarm system considering that it will dial out and I can now call in to my alarm. Expense? $1.95 per month. Outstanding! If anyone finds a greater VOIP source let me know!
Second update:
Found out my dog can set off the motion detectors. No issue, raised the pointing angle and now my pug does not set off the alarm. My wife and I set it each time we go out. Even with the dog at house. Adore this system.
Third update Feb 2011:
Technique still operating good. Had to replace the 9V batteries for two of the motion detectors, so I would say they final about 6 months. I replaced the batteries on all the units anyway. Hassle-free to do, and I did not have to reprogram any of them. Amazon has some fantastic deals on 9V Alkaline batteries. I also dropped my VOIP CallCentric and I just use the Vonage VOIP. No need for two systems, I never had to dial into the security method, no false alarms!
Had this alarm method for the final two months. Also, purchased the GSM Cellular Module, for the reason that I don't have a land-line.
Immediately after becoming broken into my earlier spot, an alarm technique was a have to have for our new apartment dwelling. Just before moving in, I began the installation. At initially, I was concerned with the directions which primarily consisted of a photograph instance, but the installation was a breeze. The door alarms are straight forward to mount and based on a flawless technology. The motion detectors had been a bit a lot more hard, but I when I figured out how the jumpers coordinated with the spectrum of detection (which is enclosed in those directions), it was fine. I set mine to a substantial distance, so I must not have been shocked that the cat set it off. At a mid-distance, my cat didn't trigger it at all.
Although I could have utilised a bit additional description of the modes (Property, AWAY, etc.), all of the directions for programming the program had been clear and concise. The flexibility of this technique is awesome. You can plan up to ten phone numbers and customize the timer delays as significantly as you need to. The essential fobs are great. I have close friends that paid $800.00 for their systems and having had to come by while they are gone, I hate the keypad-only systems. You can set this technique using the essential fob, which can transmit by way of our metal door or arm it by phone.
As for the alarm component, I have had this go off accidentally and by design. The accident element had to do with guests who did not comply with directions and my cat. In every case, I was notified soon sufficient to disarm it somewhat speedily. The alarm is loud and deafening inside the apartment, and is undoubtedly loud enough to be heard within the developing.
I would highly advocate this program. You can use it with a monitoring corporation simply because that is supported, but it definitely beats the $800.00 models that these monitoring organizations charge for their systems. Plus installation is very easy and DIY. I feel safe at night and when I am away. The day-to-day use is easy and very easy to perform into your morning/night routine.
